How long will the color last on my brows?
Color can last on the hair shaft for up to 6 weeks and offers a skin staining effect on the skin that can last up to a week or more, depending on the condition of the skin and how well the brows are cared for after the treatment. Just be aware that the color of the stain on the skin can vary for each client.
What is the difference between Brow Henna and Brow Tint?
With the tint, a traditional dye and peroxide mixture is used and it is designed to only tint the hairs, not the skin. Henna will not only dye the hairs, but will leave a stain (for approx 7-14 days) on the skin behind the brow, giving the brow a fuller and filled in look. In terms of longevity, tint only lasts around 2-3 weeks on the hair, henna can last up to 6 weeks on the hair.
Which service should I book?
If you are someone who does not normally wear any brow products (or very little), and prefers a more subtle look to your brows, then start with a Brow Tint.
If you are accustomed to a very defined and filled in eyebrow, and like a more bold, rich colour, then go with the Brow Henna.
What type of brows is Brow Henna best for?
Low maintenance on the go types who want to get out the door without “filling in” their brows with a makeup product. Sensitive or dry skin types are suited to henna or anyone who wants a thicker looking brow without the commitment of eyebrow tattooing.
Who should avoid Henna?
Oily skin types don’t get much benefit as the henna breaks down and lifts from the skin quite quickly. It can also appear quite dark for a few days,
I’m a redhead, will Brow Henna work for me?
Absolutely! Brow Henna is perfect for those with red tones, as the henna dye naturally carries a redder pigmentation. We know that redheads come in all shades, so we customize our Brow Henna colors to suit your individual brow!
Is Brow Henna effective on Grey/White hair?
Henna absorbs much faster and deeper into the hair follicles than a normal tint, so it’s a great choice for those with lighter or more mature hair. Brow Henna is a deep tint and can create a strong brow, so we would recommend patch testing or choosing a slightly lighter shade for the best possible result. We will always chat to you before applying your Brow Henna treatment to ensure that your brow shade is right for you.
I want to try Brow Henna but my brows are quite sparse, will it still work?
If your brows are on the sparse side, Brow Henna could be your next favorite thing. The powerful natural dye is great for reshaping and filling out the brows, it picks up every little hair and stains the skin for brows that wow! I am highly trained in brow design and I love Brow Henna for restoration, I can customize the brow shape and color best suited to you. Plus, the conditioning properties of henna allow for increased hair growth, so you’re helping those brows out at the same time!
Can Brow Henna be used on lashes as well?
No, Henna is not safe or suitable for lashes.
Is Brow Henna safe to use?
As henna is a natural ingredient, there is a small chance that an allergic reaction could occur during the treatment. We would strongly recommend popping in for a quick patch test 48 before your Brow Henna appointment, just for peace of mind–and if you experience any discomfort, just let us know! This is especially recommended if you have a strong history of allergic reactions. Even if you have had henna treatments before, a patch test is the best way to ensure you will love your henna brows.
Does Brow Henna work with brows that have been tattooed?
Brow Henna is a fantastic option for a less permanent brow enhancement, especially if you’re debating whether or not to take the plunge into cosmetic tattooing. The skin staining can give a handy sneak peek into the brow shape and depth of color allowed by cosmetic tattoo, and you can take your henna brows out on the town as a tester!
If you have an existing tattoo, you can absolutely try the henna treatment to freshen up your brows, Brow Henna stains the skin surface and hair follicles, but does not interfere with any pigments underneath the skin.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Book a patch/allergy test for 48 hours prior. Stop using any waterproof brow make-up 2-3 days prior to your appointment. If you are going to have your brows shaped, do that before your henna appointment (unless having it done at Lash Fox Beauty, it can be done at the same time) The day of your appointment do not apply any moisturizer, make up, spray tan or oils to your brows or it will compromise the application of the henna. Advise Lash Fox Beauty of any allergies or reactions to your patch/allergy test.
How do I take care of my brows after?
Brows must be left alone for the first 24 hours. Keep them dry, no water, sweating, saunas or steam rooms. Try to sleep on your back. Do not apply make up for the first 24 hours. After 24 hours you may resume your regular activities and treatment of your brows, however extended time in chlorine, the sun, tanning beds or sweating can cause the brows to fade faster. Wash your brows with a non abrasive/exfoliating cleanser and avoid oil and oil based products.
